What is 14k gold fill?— 14k gold fill is an affordable, quality alternative to 14k gold. Unlike gold plate, which has only a few micron layer of actual gold, 14k gold filled has a solid layer of 14k gold bonded to the outside of a base metal. 14k gold fill jewelry has a hundred times more gold than gold plate.
With normal wear and occasional gentle cleaning, 14K gold filled jewelry will maintain its rich gold surface for many years to come. Like solid 14k gold, 14k gold fill jewelry is tarnish-resistant and safe for most people with sensitive skin.

Can I replace a lost earring?—Yes you can! In most cases, you can purchase 1/2 a pair. All Minoux jewelry is handmade, and each piece varies slightly, so you will need to return the mate so that I can match it exactly. If your earring is older, I may no longer have a matching stone, and I will check with you to make sure you’ll be happy with a “pretty good” match. Email kristen@minouxjewelry.com for more details.

Does the jewelry come in a box?—Yes. Each item comes in an attractive recycled cardboard gift box, with tissue paper and soft mat. The box is wrapped in a protective layer, then shipped in a bubble mailer.

How do I care for my jewelry?— Avoid wearing jewelry to bed, or while swimming or bathing. This will help to keep it clean and looking its best.
Sterling silver will eventually tarnish with normal wear. Gold fill may also tarnish, but at a much slower rate. To clean, gently wipe with a jewelry polishing cloth. Any jewelry that contains an oxidized (black) or stone element should not go into jewelry cleaning solution or ultrasonic cleaner.
Any jewelry with an oxidized (black) element will eventually wear. Some people prefer the worn oxidized look. If you would like to refresh your jewelry to true black, you may return it to me, or do it yourself with liver of sulfur. For silver jewelry with a matte (non-shiny) surface, you may polish and refresh the surface using super fine (000 or 0000) steel wool.
Gemstones and pearls will slowly accumulate body oils and become dirty. Use a non-abrasive soap and water to wash them gently with your fingers. Do not use a polishing cloth on the surface of stones or pearls.
